Dancing Around Duchamp
The Bride and the Bachelors: Duchamp with Cage, Cunningham, Rauschenberg and Johns.

'Fabiola Santana floats through a dreamy sequence of steps, then bursts into a flurry of speed (...) It’s a lovely performance of a brilliantly quirky solo.'

From February to June, 2014, Fabiola was a dancer in Dancing Around Duchamp, at Barbican Centre. As part of the live component of the exhibition, hosted in the round.
Curated by Jeannie Steel, the performances rendered the exhibition with a real and tangible understanding of how Duchamp inspired Marce Cunningham's work. By having the live dancers and Cage's music played at random, visitors experienced the interdisciplinary brilliance between the boundaries pushed by Duchamp in conceptual art and it's ripples across the arforms.
Jeannie Steel was a core member and a rehearsal assistant of Cunningham's Dance Company.
